Supporting communities in tanzania

contribute

a grassroots approach to change

The support of surrounding communities is crucial to the long-term conservation of the Tarangire-Manyara ecosystem.

Although rich in history and culture, Tanzania’s tribal communities remain severely under-resourced when it comes to educational, social and economic opportunities. Rural living on the front lines of natural wilderness areas is a primary factor in dramatic habitat loss, with local populations bearing the cost of dangerous human-wildlife interactions. It’s clear that uplifting these communities is the key to conservation in the region.

Working alongside the local village governments, and district and regional commissioner’s offices, our Community Engagement Programme aims to empower communities through education and social initiatives as well as alternative income-generating pathways that incentivise the conservation of wildlife.
