Opening doors to opportunities
By improving educational infrastructure, offering free school transport and providing learning materials, we’re giving children in our communities a chance at a brighter future. This, in turn, encourages parents to send their children to school, paving a pathway out of poverty.
Within the Burunge Wildlife Management Area (BWMA), we support several educational initiatives, including:
- Upgrading local public school infrastructure through the renovation and improvement of classrooms, teachers’ houses and school toilets.
- Providing educational materials to help students gain access to holistic learning.
- Donating a school bus to shorten the eight-kilometre school commute.
- Collaborating with Tanzanian conservation authorities to provide inspiring and engaging environmental education to students across 10 villages.
Conservation education
CCA has observed that children who receive conservation education training in school benefit significantly. Consequently, we have expanded our conservation education programme by partnering with Lessons in Conservation (LiC). LiC has developed a partnership model that provides organisations with ready-to-use lesson kits and training, enabling them to bring meaningful environmental education directly to their surrounding communities.
Today, Chem Chem Association’s conservation education programme reaches nearly 1,000 children annually, equipping them with essential conservation knowledge that enhances their understanding and passion for conservation while also improving their academic performance.
