Education

Opening doors to opportunities

Access to education plays a major role in enhancing the overall quality of life and supporting economic development in local communities. By improving educational infrastructure, offering free school transport and providing learning materials, we can equip young lives for a brighter future. And, by empowering parents we are enabling them to send their children to school, putting them on the path out of poverty.

Within the Burunge Wildlife Management Area, the Chem Chem Association supports several educational upliftment initiatives, including:

  • Upgrading local public school infrastructure through the renovation and improvement of classrooms, teachers’ houses and school toilets.
  • The provision of educational materials to help students gain access to holistic learning.
  • The donation of a school bus to shorten the eight-kilometre school commute.
  • Collaborating with Tanzanian conservation authorities to provide environmental education across 10 villages.
  • Providing English language courses for youth and women in the region.

Furthermore, the Chem Chem Association has embarked on an adventurous project to take students on safari to teach them about the importance of wildlife conservation and instil a sense of custodianship while still young.
