Every stay at one of the three lodges contributes to local community development and conservation initiatives in the following ways:
- A US$ 150 per person per night Conservation & Community Fee, that directly contributes to concession fees, which in turn protect the reserve from alternative land usage, including hunting. The fees also support the Wildlife Corridor Project between Tarangire National Park and Lake Manyara National Park. This is a crucial project because of the ever-increasing human impact on the natural movement of wildlife in the area.
- Including an optional US$ 50 per booking, that goes directly to the Chem Chem Association.
- Simply staying with Chem Chem Safaris indirectly supports community education, human-wildlife conflict resolution, anti-poaching patrols, economic empowerment initiatives, the Chem Chem Soccer league (a successful conservation initiative) and the health and wellbeing of people living with disabilities in the community.
- Between safari experiences, choose to get involved and visit the local school, take part in a community football match, enjoy a guided tour through the village lands, and simply take the time to learn about life in this unique part of the world.
